Google Labs are at it again, this time offering website owners and bloggers some new tools for adding content and functionality to their sites. Utilizing the Google AJAX search API, the new service allows you to add content from Google’s range of search services (blogs, news, video etc) direct to your website.

Matt Cutts gave a heads up via his blog post Google Flair: Google Blog Bar, but the wizard based services go beyond just blog and news headlines. (Not all of them are new, but worth a mention nonetheless).

Google seems to be testing a new tweak of their homepage which realigns their links to Google Services from the Search Box to the top left corner of the homepage.

Search services like Images, Video, News and Maps are listed, then Google integrates a link to Mail followed by a drop down of “More” which includes quick links to Google Calendar, Docs, Groups, Blogs, Books and Patents.

I like the look and feel personally.

Today, domain names, especially in Google, can help you obtain a better rank. It might not in the future, but right now, it helps.

If you don’t have a website yet or if you’re planning to launch a new one, you should, prior to buy a domain name, do a keyword research in order to find the most popular terms used to describe your business.

After that, you should consider a .com domain name or .net if the .com you want is not available. Google tends to privilege .com and .net domains. We at SEO expert have noticed Google likes .ca domains too so it’s good news for registered Canadian businesses.

When buying domains, you should really disregard .info, .biz and .name domains. If possible, try to pick a domain without dashes.

The thing you have to keep in mind is to have the right keywords in your domain: that’s the first step to proper search engine optimization.

How to switch domain?

You want to switch your .net to your new .com?

The one thing you shouldn’t do at all cost is to have the same content on both because Google will see two versions of the same page and will consider it as duplicate content. Instead, you must install a side wide 301 (permanent redirect) on your old domain. This will inform the search engine and your customers that your website has permanently move to a new location. Don’t forget your emails: Make sure that anyone who email the old adress is automatically forward to the new email adress on that new domain. 1st rule of good seo for any website is content. I always said content is king! when you write for your visitors webmaster and other people will link to you from their web sites. This is one of the basis of any good SEO program. Links are crucial and that is what i like to call the gas in the car. you can not get very far with no gas so the same principle applies. So the more links the better. Good quality links, not the bad stuff. Blogs are also a great way to fill up rich content and thus creating more links for your SEO program.

How to do SEO Copywriting

Please note that content should have 5% to 7% targeted keyword density and should give information about your company. Make sure you are not ‘spamming’, i.e. stuffing the content with keywords. Yahoo! have announced a global search update which will begin to re-index the web and result in immediate ranking changes amongst search results. The search update is taking place so Yahoo! can implement a new meta tag, allowing webmasters to decide how their page is shown in search results.

The ‘NOYDIR’ meta tag is the latest to be supported by Yahoo! and will be used to inform the Yahoo! search spider not to show Yahoo! directory titles and descriptions in search results. If your website is included in the Yahoo! directory and you would prefer to have your natural page title and description shown, simply add the following to your HTML code:

meta name=”ROBOTS” content=”NOYDIR”

This may affect your yahoo results in a positive direction if used properly. In cases of more key words that you have in your title tag and description meta Id call it Internet Marketing presentation of your yahoo listing.

This change will not affect the dir.yahoo.com and only the www.yahoo.com results.
