How to choose your SEO expert

If you’re thinking about hiring an SEO expert soon, you should prior to do that, visit a couple of websites to check what you are really going to get for your money and ask yourself some questions. Will I really get results? How can they prove they will get me results? Will I get a good customer service? Are they going to take time to answer my questions since I just know little about SEO? What services will be included in my SEO plan? Are they going to let me down after a month? What kind of guarantee will I get?

First of all, an SEO expert should be able to prove you he can get you results by showing you examples of his or her clients that are on the first page for their targeted keywords. If the expert refuses to show you examples or give references, run! It probably means that they are not very good at what they do because if they would be, they would be proud to show you at least 2 or 3 of their client’s listings.

A good SEO expert should also be able to explain what kind of strategies he or she will use. Is it linking, rich content or addition of keywords in the Meta tags? Whatever the type of strategy, make sure it’s a legal strategy i.e. no links hidden or invisible text on same color background, etc.
Usually, when a client is calling us for the first time, we will take a good 15 minutes to explain and answer basic questions regarding the client’s website. Then, we will offer a plan that fits the client’s needs or paid consultation sessions if the client wants to optimize his site himself.

The majority of SEO companies are offering 6 months to 1 year optimization contract. This type of contract will protect both you and the company you are dealing with.
Please note that you should also invest in an SEO service called monthly maintenance. Monthly maintenance means that ‘tweaking’ will be done on your website on a monthly basis in order to secure your ranking in case you get bumped from your spot by new competitors or because of changes in the Google algorithms, etc.

Finally, the most important thing you need to know is that if somebody guarantees you a certain spot or result on the first page: run! SEO experts don’t work at Google: they are offering their expertise and because of that, they can’t guarantee any particular position. The only thing they can guarantee is that they will do their best to improve your ranking. Of course, you’ll have to use your own judgment whether you want to trust the person or not. If you feel the expert has been honest with you and you’re satisfied with the answers you got from him, then I think it’s a perfect match!
