Microsoft Launches webmaster tools beta.

Microsoft launched a beta version of its new software suite and a second version is under way. SEO Roundtable has a nice set of first pictures.

webtools

The question that comes to mind right away(I’m not the first one to ask it).

Why is it called rank? Why is it green? Why so obvious? =).

SEO Moz Had an Interview with Eytan Seidman from Microsoft Live team, where they mentioned Webmaster tools among other good stuff. Here is the highlight in relation to the Webtools.

“Webmasters are a critical piece of our success. Fundamentally it is webmasters who provide us the content that makes our engine useful to end consumers. We think that if we can forge a closer relationship with webmasters we can accomplish two things. First, we can help webmasters understand how Live Search is beneficial to their business and where they might be able to improve to get better results.”

Way to go Microsoft, seems like they are on the right track. The questions I have, how much will this affect the amount of traffic Microsoft gets from the average Joe, and where does Yahoo stand. Is Yahoo thinking in the same direction? How will that affect them?

Webmaster tools are a good link bait and looks like Microsoft is not giving up just yet, we just have to wait until the time Google buys Microsoft =).

Real Estate Search Engine Marketing – Business Impact Analysis.

Please take a second to review our general analysis of the online market in relation to real estate.

Real Estate Search Engine Marketing.

Term real estate currently returns 361,000,000 results on Google. Our keyword research tool calculates approximately 12,228,148 daily searches. If we are to divide the results from Google, with an approximate number of queries, it would give us the following.

361,000,000/12,228,148 = 29.52

This comes to a total of about 29 pages per each search on the major search engines or 29 pages per visitor. However, this estimate holds no ground due the following fact.

In real estate search engine marketing and in any other field, searchers rarely get past the third page of the results. It is probably true that if you were not able to find information related to real estate search engine marketing you would most likely change your search criteria. This applies to 95% of searches conducted on major search engines.

Google displays 10 results per page. If you were to get to page 3, you would have seen 30 pages. Considering the fact that people rarely look past the third page, we can create the following formula in order to give us an estimated value of real estate search engine marketing.

Number of queries divided by 30(representing the first 3 pages, with 30 results)

12,228,148 divided by 30 gives us 407,604.

Websites that show up as first 30 results for the term real estate, get approximately 407,604 visitors per day. With this equation you can see the power of real estate search engine marketing. Top 30 websites on Google, share more 12 million visitors between each other for the term real estate, getting a rounded 400.000 clicks per day.

Use More Refined Terms in order to get the most out of your real estate search engine marketing strategy.

Real Estate Google Graph

Google trends generated graph above shows, that the term real estate has experienced a decline since July. This is a fact for many general, broad terms. Searchers are getting savvier in searching, and tend to target more refined keywords. In the case of real estate search engine marketing it would be ideal to go after phrases containing 3 or 4 words.

As an example, please have a look at data gathered by our keyword research tool

Keywords Queries Competition
real estate agent 2798612 44,400,000
california real estate agent 18044 48,500,000
atlanta real estate agent 10964 5,220,000
michigan real estate agent 7804 6,600,000
arizona real estate agent 7596 5,370,000
vancouver real estate agent 2868 2,250,000
calgary real estate agent 2340 1,930,000

As you can see, keywords such as Calgary real estate agent have much less competition and are very specific in their nature. Whenever anyone is searching with that particular term, most likely they are looking for real estate agent in Calgary. If we are to apply the same formula we did for real estate, we would get the following.

Per website in the top 30(first 3 pages) targeted visitors per day.

Calgary real estate agent 2340/30 = 78
Michigan real estate agent 7804/30 = 260
Vancouver real estate agent 2868/30 = 95
Atlanta real estate agent 10964/30 = 365

This estimate represents a number of unique visitors real estate sites get per day with properly executed real estate search engine marketing strategy. The more defined your term is – the more chances getting that person to become your customer you have.

Another valuable factor of real estate search engine marketing is the fact that customers take initiative to look for your services. Unlike traditional advertising where you shoot and in many cases hit unqualified prospects, in real estate search engine marketing visitors that come to your website are highly qualified, with a clear goal in their mind. With an average of 100 visitors per day, at 10% conversion rate – a properly optimized real estate website may be getting ten new customers, every day.

Real Estate Search Engine Marketing – Going After Multiple Key Phrases.

Having defined your flagship keywords it is also very beneficial to go after people who are not looking for particular services just yet. Being a real estate company or an agent, sharing insights and your experience is very powerful way to draw targeted visitors to your website and is a very good tactic in real estate search engine marketing.

Lets examine more keyword research data, generated by our keyword research tool.

Keywords Queries Competition
real estate home buying 9300 5,140,000
buying home orlando 1348 4,910,000
buying home process 2652 84,900,000
buying home information 1076 325,000,000

As you can see, many people are looking for information on how to buy a house. Having deep insight into the real estate industry you can write a number of articles targeting those specific questions and then hand them over to you real estate search marketing firm for further processing. By providing valuable information to those who look for it, you will establish your company and yourself as an expert in the field, earning appeal from the prospects. If they find this information useful, they will consider you as their real estate agent over others, due to the fact you have helped them.

Lets quickly calculate.

Per website in the top 30(first 3 pages) targeted visitors per day.

real estate home buying 9300/30 = 310
buying home process 2652/30 = 88
buying home Orlando 1348/30 = 44
buying home information

1076/30 = 35

As you can see the numbers are quite high, considering this is qualified, targeted, daily traffic.

This is a very good strategy to build long term presence in real estate field, since people looking for such information are considering to buy a house in the future, they will eventually need an agent to represent them. Having established an image and expertise they will most likely come back you for the actual services.

Search engine marketing – customer driven advertising.

Search engine marketing tactic is not limited to real estate field and flawlessly works in any other industry. We did not have the time to analyze the cost and return factor of real estate search engine marketing in comparison to more traditional methods of advertising. The biggest factor that sets aside real estate search engine marketing from the rest of advertising spectrum is the fact, that customers take the first initiative to look for the services, and whoever stands out on the major search engines will get their business.

We hope information provided helps you in your research into real estate search engine marketing.

Android challenge – Google Announces 10 Million in Rewards to Best Android Applications.

Today Google officially announced it will be giving out 10 million dollars in rewards to developers who come up with the most innovative Android applications for the new mobile GPhone platform.

Those who create the most original and the most useful applications will get a piece of a very tasty pie. Google has not yet made it clear as to how many will share the reward, but it is a great move on their part. I suspect the race is already on with many developers missing their sleep working tirelessly to outperform opposition.

Android Developer Challenge – Microsoft is Facing Execution in The Mobile OS Arena.

Core of Google’s new project lies in its name – Open Handset Alliance. By opening its code to the bright minds all across the planet Google is set to create the most useful mobile platform.
Here are the guidelines:

  • Social networking
  • Media consumption, management, editing, or sharing, e.g., photos
  • Productivity and collaboration such as email, IM, calendar, etc.
  • Gaming
  • News and information
  • Rethinking of traditional user interfaces
  • Use of mash-up functionality
  • Use of location-based services
  • Humanitarian benefits
  • Applications in service of global economic development
  • Whatever you’re excited about!

Google places its bets on neutrality, like Microsoft did many years ago with Windows. I believe Microsoft mobile OS will be completely left in the dark unless MS takes action, very soon.

Anyone who ever used Windows Mobile based products will probably agree – its interface and its capabilities are not something to be praised. RIM, the manufacturers of the Blackberries have become successful in the business arena, because they gave what the execs asked for – easy to use, very capable device.

Android is not going be limited in its audience. Nor it will be limited to a brand. If developers really take on the challenge, expect young and old from all walks of life to find something unique and useful for themselves.

Here is a little demo of the capabilities of the Android platform(video).

As much as I hate say it, my lovely Blackberry will have to go =).

Google and Ask.com Enter Into Joint PPC Agreement.

As originally reported by PR Newswire, Google and Ask.com have entered into five year agreement, allowing Google to extent its paid listings on Ask.com platform.

“NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — IAC (Nasdaq: IACI) and Google (Nasdaq:>GOOG) today announced an extended and broadened agreement whereby Google will provide Ask.com and IAC’s other Internet brands with sponsored listings. Additional terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed.”

How does it impact Ask Sponsored Listings?

It has not yet been announced whether Ask.com will keep its own PPC program running, most likely they will. By combining it with Google Adwords, Ask will greatly broaden its audience in the advertising field, simply due to the fact that Google ads are the most effective and most popular. It is a very good move for Ask.com in terms of its expansion strategy, however a close relationship hints that Ask.com will not be a major competitor in years to come.

Personally I expected Ask.com to take on Google, however they have a chosen a safe path, for which we cannot blame them. A joint relationship will only strengthen its positions on the market, however it might become too dependant on Google.

What is the impact on Google?

Google has taken a step not only to broaden its revenue stream, but to safeguard its positions as a dominant SE figure, since Ask.com has been gaining more ground due to its advertising campaign. Google will have a final word in this relationship, since their platform is much bigger then one of Ask.com.

Great move by Googleplex board. As we move deeper into the 21st century expect acquisitions and a fierce SE battle to continue.

Ask.com is fully owned by IAC .

End of Advertising – IBM predicts end of traditional marketing.

“Traditional advertising players risk major revenue declines as budgets shift rapidly to new, interactive formats, which are expected to grow at nearly five times that of traditional advertising. To survive in this new reality, broadcasters must change their mass audience mind-set to cater to niche consumer segments, and distributors need to deliver targeted, interactive advertising for a range of multimedia devices. Advertising agencies must experiment creatively, become brokers of consumer insights, and guide allocation of advertising dollars amid exploding choices. All players must adapt to a world where advertising inventory is increasingly bought and sold in open exchanges vs. traditional channels…”

Internet is capturing more minds every day, people spend less time watching television and more time browsing the net. Generation of young adults from 14 to 25 have abandoned television in their majority in favor of the World Wide Web. Future of marketing is not hard to predict. Television advertising and TV in general is already experiencing a steady decline in viewers numbers and will die a slow death unless it completely shifts to internet like on-demand scheme. Though it will be a player for years to come, due to the fact that it holds a good grip on older generation – its days are numbered.

A Big Part of Traditional Advertising Will Have to Go – Subliminal Messages.

Television ads, in their majority, spin highly subliminal content playing on people’s desires and placing accurately hidden messages in peoples unconscious. We could have a new section on this topic, but as an example I want to mention an interesting commercial about a washing machine. There was a lovely lady swimming and dancing in clean bed covers that she took out of that machine while throughout the ad, a cute little puppy was in the frame.

We all have seen puppies, their innocent child like eyes melt even the toughest hearts. It was no accident that creature found its place on national TV. By placing it into a commercial of a washing machine, marketers painted a very specific felling towards their product.

Its puffiness (it was long haired) placed an image of innocence and purity on the outcome of their product, which in the case of that commercial were clean bed covers washed in their machine. And who doesn’t want their bedding clean pure and puffy? Unsuspected house wives were a subject to unconscious conditioning and whenever they would go shopping for a new washing machine, they would have an appeal towards that brand without even knowing it.

Our brains are that powerful and our subconscious is like a sponge – it is sees and remembers everything. O hail Freud.

How does that relate to internet marketing? I believe subliminal messages, on which most TV advertising industry exists, will lose a lot of its ground, and major changes will occur in the mentality and education process of the marketers. Even though pictures that contain hidden messages are as effective, you will have to get people to view them in the first place, which on the internet is a task in itself.

Point and Shoot is Obsolete – Marketing will be Consumer Driven.

Whoever adapts to the consumer will win. Facebook is already on a roll. Having gained access to the most precise marketing information, Facebook is fiercely working towards and integrated marketing platform that will target only qualified individuals on per product basis. Though it is somewhat unethical to scoop around private information in such a manner, their user agreement states they can do whatever they want with it.

SEO firms are going to be key players in marketing due to a simple fact – they are consumer driven. Nothing sells better then the products that consumers look for with an intention to buy.

Next step after establishment of the SEO as a necessity, I envision a mix of SEO with very precise targeted copywriting. Those who figure out how to optimize and manage to implement very convincing sales messages are going to have an edge over traditional SEOs, because not only they will drive traffic, but convert as much of it as possible. This might involve more developers on SEOs side to create more back up responses and more copywriters to implement the copies, however I believe it will be used as a method to stand out from the crowd once it gets too crowded and bases are established to afford it.

Very Niche, Targeted Marketing is the Future, while TV is Left in the Dust.

Freedom of information drives people to the net, not only because they can compare and find best prices, but because blunt FOX News style propaganda is not fooling anyone anymore. Information is the driver and internet marketers will have to figure out how to appeal to every niche possible and provide in-depth, resourceful information along with it, because not only search engines love content, people do too.

There numerous other methods like: in game ads, PPC, in video ads, banners, press and I am sure many more on the way – it all comes down to the core. Information. Having gained access and insight(Facebook, Hitwise) into the most private details of the prospects companies are arming themselves with the most formidable weapon. Those who will know the most will make the most. How will that play out on SEO, we will see. For now, feel safe in making a right choice, it is here to stay.

Search Engine Optimization is a Great Window, Seize the Chance.

“Search is utilitarian. Search is constantly accused of not being sexy. That drives me nuts. The irony is that in pigeonholing search as being boring and utilitarian, all these brilliant advertising minds are missing the biggest idea of all: search works because it’s the customer driving the process, not the advertiser.”
Source

As you can see, a lot of people are still not aware of the potential, which in all cases is an advantage. It won’t be for long though. It is a matter of time before search marketing goes supernova and becomes as necessary as having a website, we just have to wait and prepare ourselves, because when it does you better be ready.

Google Earth vs Microsoft Virtual Earth.

Earth vs Earth which one is better? Microsoft and Google are fighting on all fronts and our virtual planet is a battleground as well. Though Google was first to come up with such an idea, Microsoft quickly caught up and got on a train, so what do they offer?

Google EarthBoth applications allow you to freely explore our beautiful planet from the comfort of your chair with ability to zoom virtually anywhere. Though quality is not always perfect, generally it is very detailed in the most populated places.

Google Earth vs Microsoft Virtual Earth – Features.

Both “Earthes” can find exact location you are looking for by entering desired address into the search box. Google Earth as well as Virtual Earth can give you directions from A to B to F and X and guide you step by step on how to get there, not a novelty but something worth mentioning.

Microsoft seems to stop there and does not go further in its usability, where Google really breaks the tide and offers much more then a virtual ball. Amount of features is immense and I will run out of space if I was to talk about all of them, however the most noticeable are:

  • SkyView, which allows you to explore the Galaxy.
  • YouTube Integration.
  • Real Time Weather Forecast and updated cloud cover over the planet.
  • Panorama view.
  • Wikipedia Integration.
  • Google Book Search.
  • Global Awareness Watch.

To give you a sense, here is a snap of Montréal with all the features turned on.

Crazy
No room left for Montreal.

Microsoft Virtual Earth vs Google Earth – Graphics.

Microsoft fights off its reward from Google and earns the title of the best virtual earth in terms of graphics. It is truly a beauty.

Most of the Google’s 3D structures are user submitted with some of the cities designed by Google itself. Microsoft took a different approach. Instead of leaving 3D design in the background they have photographed cities and dressed 3D building in actual photographs – making it gorgeous. Virtual cities do look phenomenal in comparison to Google Earth, which seems a bit flat after Virtual Earth. Montreal

Google Earth vs Microsoft Virtual Earth – Performance.

Google Earth is a standalone application, while Virtual Earth runs from a browser which is supported both in IE7 and in Firefox.

When it comes to performance Google leads by a mile. I’ve considered my laptop to be quite powerful, yet Virtual Earth managed to take 100% of my CPU and load up almost 400MB up to my RAM, where Google took 250MB and about 30% of my CPU.

My configuration:
1.8 due core AMD, XP.
2GB RAM
Shared Nvidia.

All in all, I personally prefer Google Earth over Virtual Earth because of it’s usability and performance. Microsoft team has done a good job in creating beautiful scenery and that earned a spot for an icon on my desktop, however Google will remain my primary exporation tool for now.

For anyone who is interested in Virtual Planets you can also have a look at Nasa World Wind.

Google in Mirabel?

Mirabel almost became a big center for Internet in North America.

Indeed, Google had negotiated with the governments of Quebec and Canada last year to install their servers on the site of the airport of Mirabel.

However, the project was cancelled when the two governmental stages refused to grant to Google certain exemption taxes which are currently authorized to Google in the United States. Also, the capacity of the local network of electricity was not sufficient to answer the servers demand of energy. Nevertheless, the Hydro-Quebec company was disposed to revise the network unit.

This project with Mirabel would have allowed the creation of more than 200 jobs.

Unfortunately, confidentiality agreements prevent us from knowing more on this project of establishment in Mirabel.

CHRISTMAS GIFT CREATED FROM THE HEART

Christmas is right around the corner. The city is buzzing with Christmas spirit and delight. With the Christmas season comes Christmas shopping. Avoid annoying lines, busy malls and spending
every last penny by being a bit more creative this year. If you are looking to get something more personalized and more meaningful for you loved ones… try making your own gifts by hand (I can hear the
laugher….). Why not make something more private for your loved one… it will mean more to them than getting a toaster or a bulky wool sweater. By searching Google, you will be amazed as to what you can create. The great thing about personalized Christmas gifts is that there is no age limit, skill requirement or budget you have to follow. For the crafty people who love glue guns, how about creating a fun picture frame with glitter and found objects. For the macho men, how about making a nice shelves or foot stands. There are no limits when you want to create a gift for your loved ones… all you have to do is search Google and
type in “Homemade gifts” or “Arts and Crafts”… really, the possibilities are endless. Now… all you need is the will, some pocket change and your imagination… a fair compromise instead of the dreadful, over packed malls… don’t you think…

Search engine optimization in B2B

Currently, Search engine optimization has been a major hit between B2C’s (business to consumer), but does it have the same affect on B2Bs (business to business).  We all know that selling to Businesses is very different from Selling to customers. When making a decision, a business goes through complicated process of decision making. First there is the co-ordination between different employees, then there is the research, the selection process, and lastly, making the choice. This process could take two times longer than with consumers. Can Seo help, when the decision is an ongoing process, and not a snap decision?

The truth is Search Engine optimization is just as effective for B2b, check this out:

(The information below is taken from the survey “The Role of Search in Business to Business Buying Decisions”)

  • 93.2 percent (out of 1500 participants) said that they conduct their research online.
  • 95.5 percent admitted to using search engine when searching for a desired product or service
  • 63.9 percent, preferred to start their research on a search engine, and used consumer sites, industrial portals as a last resort.
  • 86.9 of those who did not start their search on engines said that they would visit it after visiting certain sites.

Conclusion: SEO is just as important in business to business. In fact it’s a crucial and vital strategy for success

Reliable SEO Services.

With a boom of SEO Services all across North America it is very easy to pitfall into the lure of big promises and low prices. Reliable SEO services are not hard to find, however there are some things you need to take into account when evaluating search engine optimization firms.

Reliable SEO services – How to Guide.

1. By far the most important and foremost role in your search for reliable SEO services should be the placement of the companie for its own industry related keywords on Google. Reliable SEO services company essentially has to be on the first page for at least one of its key phrases. If it is the Toronto search engine optimization firm you are after, evaluate its placement. Does it appear on Google for terms such as “SEO Toronto”, “Toronto Search engine optimization” etc.?

Google’s new look for SERP Pages. Nov 2007

Today Google released its new look for city specific searches.
This however only worked from one of our machines, so there is chance Google is performing some tests, regardless we believe this is the future.

Every time you are to look for any service from Google.com combined with a name of any city – first ten results are presented as local listings, followed by the natural pages as before.

Here is an example.

As you can see on the screen shot, the first ten listings are local followed by organic leaders as before the update.

Another look.

It is begging to be clicked on.

This look sets number one page completely apart from the rest, due to the fact it being separated by 10 local searches.

Consumer Search Implications.

Consumer search is going to improve greatly, since you are able to see addresses and the phone numbers in a blink of eye. It is no longer required to dig all the way down to the contact us page of the website – you are virtually there, with directions, phone numbers and the addresses. Not only Google’s servers are retrieving info at the speed of light, Google gets the best local bars, night clubs and shops up front, when you need them. I have a sense people will love this.

Website Ranking and SEO Search Engine Optimization.

Everybody prefers and wants to rank high for popular phrases, but in many cases those key words may be out of your reach, so what do you do then?

Do Search Engine Optimization for Small, Low Traffic Terms.

For example, let’s assume you own a snowboard and accessory business and decide to go after a phrase “snowboard”. At the moment Google returns 38 million pages for that term with highly optimized results at the top. It is unlikely and would require either some magic on your side or a very professional website ranking and search engine optimization company to compete in that spectrum. The route is absolutely up to you, however in this article I wanted to talk about a different kind of technique, which is not as time consuming as going after the big keywords, but as effective as doing so.

Search Engine Optimization Website Ranking Starts with Keyword Research.

The foremost of every SEO project lies in keyword research and that is exactly where we are going right now. A number of free and pay-for tools is available online. For this particular presentation, let’s go ahead and use the free for all search engine optimization tools.

Please go to here and type “snowboard”.

The number of queries tops 400 thousand and Google returns with over 38 million results, so it is unlikely you will get good rankings in a short period of time, however if you are to scroll down, you will see less popular, but more refined terms that can get you a good amount of targeted traffic.

The key would be the following – spot very specific, buyer motivated low volume terms.

Please scroll all the way down in your keyword tool and copy “snowboard binding part”. It has 2172 queries – a little too much for this website ranking strategy so let’s dig deeper.

(please note you have to enter “snowboard” into the tool, to get results and follow practice outlined above)

Once you copy the term, please click back in your browser and paste “snowboard binding part” into the research tool. It will take a second to give you more refined results and bingo! Keyword research tool routed out “replacement part snowboard binding”. We rephrase that into human “snowboard binding replacement part” and we have found exact term we were looking for – very targeted, specific and relatively low volume. Number of queries is 148 which means it is searched close to 148 times per day.

You are probably thinking that it is not worth the effort to optimize for it, but please Google the exact phrase and you will see quite a number of shops who performed search engine optimization just for that term!

Website Ranking and SEO With Refined Keywords Brings High Return in a Form of Conversion.

If you do the math, it makes total sense. Let’s assume you can optimize your page and rank well for a low term. If you manage to get into top 3 results you will be getting an average of 60 visitors per day. The most beautiful part however, is the fact that those 60 visitors are all looking to buy snowboard binding replacement parts! If you manage to convert quarter of that traffic, you will sell 15 bindings per day and that is profit from a very refined, specific, targeted term.

Google Joins UN and Cisco, Global Efforts to Fight Poverty

The UN Millenium Development speaks of halving by 2015 the proportion of people suffering from hunger and extreme poverty.

Google joines UN and Cisco, global effort to fight poverty

The First UN Millennium Development Goal written by Thomas W. Pogge, states:

In 2000, the total human population was 6071 million (http://esa.un.org/unpp/*), and 19.27 percent were thus living in extreme poverty. Halving the proportion means reducing this percentage to 9.64 percent. Given an expected human population of 7197 million in 2015 (ibid.), the implied goal is then to reduce the number of extremely poor people to 694 million by 2015. The planned poverty reduction shrinks to 476 million.

* http://esa.un.org/unpp/ = Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations

In Thomas W. Pogge written that in 2000, some 1170 million were living below $1/day. Could you imagine yourself living where you live right now only by having less than $ 1 per day? Our hands are the only tool that can reach for those people who are suffer.

Google and Cisco Participation

Thursday, Google and Cisco Systems are going to launch a new website that will provide data and a bird’s eye view of global efforts to fight poverty and meet U.N. development goals by 2015. Through surfing on Google Earth’s map and satellite imagery to fly anywhere on the planet, web surfer will be able to “explore” the places where work is being done.

The project is funded by United Nations Capital Development Funds received $150,000 from corporate donors out of $ 200,000 project’s fund.

Thomas W. Pogge teaches me how to read simply the success of UN’s goals. Theoritically:

The UN Goals: Cutting the Propotion* of Extreme Poverty by Half

*The proportion of extremely poor people is a fraction that has the number of extremely poor people in the numerator (top) and some reference population in the denominator (bottom).

The greater the increase in the denominator, which occurs simply through population growth, the less of a reduction needs to be achieved in the numerator.

This website will provide the latest statistics on health, education, malnutrition, women’s equality and other measures that contribute to poverty, for all who seek it. Not only YOU can be part of successes and celebrate them, but also as observer of failures where you could keep attention to o the U.N. goals and redouble their country’s commitment to pursue global efforts to fight poverty.

Clicks, Conversions, and Christmas

Cost-per-click (CPC) tends to increase during the holiday season. The holiday season can affect your ROI for an AdWords campaign, since those ads clicks are more likely to turn into sales.

Google Adwords advertisers could track their average cost-per-click (CPC) but what they should really see is Cost-per-acquisition (CPA).

  • Cost-per-acquisition (CPA) is defined how much advertising budget you have to spend to make a sale.
  • Conversion rate is defined as conversions (sales) per click.

Hal Varian, Google’s Chief Economist, tied altogether by following Formula:

CPA = CPC/Conversion rate = (cost/click)/(conversions/click).

Cost of clicks does tend to rise during the holidays. Clicks, cost, and conversions all go up during the holidays that cause conversions increase more than clicks. This makes the clicks more valuable, so advertisers raise their bids to reach more consumers.. As a result CPCs get pushed up. But, the CPA goes down.

Most likely, you get more sales around holiday time and increase your ROI through your effective AdWords campaign. As a result, those expensive clicks don’t seem quite expensive any longer because you get higher conversion rate.

Google to unveil mobile strategy – Access Google from Anywhere, Anytime. ..

Google Mobile Search

Access Google from Anywhere, Anytime.

Google would like to crack the market for Internet-ready phones or PDAs users by unveiling its mobile strategy on Monday. They are going to unveil including a phone operating software and their alliance who are wireless service providers and handset vendors.

Unlike the desktop computer, cell phones run on multiple incompatible systems, often requiring application vendors to customize their software for each device. Mobile search requires more specific compared to PC-based search and well shown by Hostway’s research that more consumers would access maps (49%) than news and sport (47%) from their Internet-ready phones or PDAs phone.

Google does not charge for using any of their mobile services although a data plan from mobile carrier is required and carrier charges may apply. By taking a new approach and working with their alliance, Google wants its mobile to work well on a large number of phones.

Their alliance will boost mobile Web surfing and has more than 25 members including Sprint Nextel Corp, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA, Motorola Inc., and Samsung Electronics, sources said. In absent is handset market leader Nokia. Verizon Wireless and Vodafone Group Plc have been in talks with Google to put Google applications on the phones they offer.

Source says: Google doesn’t necessarily want to be your phone … but they would certainly like to extend their business model to your phone.

For months, investors have speculated that Google might design an entire phone but they do not have a big name in devices, so analysts expect it to try to popularize its mobile services with software rather than hardware.

Google mobile operating system would be based on open-source Linux code, which will support applications from different software developers in addition to Google’s own services, including: Calendar, Web Search, Maps, News, SMS, and Blogger. We would know soon how Google goes over the recent problematic faced by Internet-ready phones or PDAs. According to a consumer survey commissioned by Hostway: 73% of people hate using the Internet on the move and among those reasons is: being frustrated by slow-loading pages (38%), problems with navigating websites from a phone or PDA (27%) and some websites being completely unavailable on mobile phones (25%).

I’m excited to see what they have as new mobile technology. It is a good thing where encouragement will be spread among companies who develop mobile-friendly sites and guarantees to Internet-ready phones or PDAs user better mobile experience.

Nichebot Review.

Today I’ve signed up for NicheBOT v2.0, with an intent to write a full scale review about this keyword research tool, as well as compare it to WordTracker and Yahoo Overture.

This article however, is a warm up, with basic topics covered, such as the structure, database sources, as well as a usability review, gathered from videos featured on Nichebot.com.

A little History.

Nichebot is registered to Full Throttle Enterprises Inc. owned by Jim Morris, President/CEO. NicheBot head office is located in Torrance California.

More recently Jim has combined WordTracker, Yahoo Overture, Keyword Discovery and Google results into all-in-one comprehensive keyword research suite and named it 2.0.

How Does NicheBot Work.

The process of keyword harvesting with NicheBot, from my understanding works this way.

You sign up with Nichebot, for either a trial, a month or for a year. You are given an amount of credits as a start up, with an option to buy more as you continue the usage, meanwhile Nichebot has premium subscriptions to the top of the line research tools, such as the WordTracker, Overture and Keyword Discovery.

Whenever you query information from those sources, you are tapping into the data bank through NicheBot account and get full enterprise results per request. In order to maintain full access to those sources through NicheBot, you are required to purchase credits, since Nichebot has to pay its own bills for the usage of a foreign database. On top of an enterprise access, Jim offers a comprehensive suite of applications, all flawlessly integrated within the interface.

Nichebot Website.

As you land on the homepage, you are greeted with a friendly structure, where the left navigation bar serves as a teaser to what options are available, while on the center of the screen, Nichebot offers to take a tour or watch a video presentation.

For starters I have picked “Take the Tour and see…” which redirected me to a 43823 character long sales messages. The approach is very direct, SEO expert oriented, where Jim Morris details on one to one basis all the great benefits of Nichebot. On right side a pretty woman in a slick, grey dress is explaining the summary of material written on the page, finishing the dialog with “I’ll see you on the inside” – very original.

The five step video presentation is flawless in terms of showing usability and power of NicheBot – a must see for anyone who prefers to get an inside look of the product before committing to it. Jim presents you with a step by step tutorial, explaining how to use Nichebot detailing the following:

  • Core keyword research
  • Related keywords
  • LSI related words gathered from Google.
  • Keyword basket usage
  • Competition analysis, with a view of highest PR sites for a particular keyword
    • Number of backlinks
    • Indexed pages
  • How to merge research from Overture and WordTracker.
  • Keyword discovery usage for themed breakdown.

Nichebot

Jim does a really good job, giving a full in-depth overview of Nichebot, making it irresistible to avoid a trial.

Better start your Christmas shopping early this year

Hi everyone!

We all know that the Canadian Dollar is getting stronger and stronger everyday. In fact, it just broke a 50 years record this morning at 1,0718$ US.

With a higher Canadian Dollar, it’s much more profitable and attractive for Canadians to go shopping in the States as well as ordering stuff online.

So if you are planning to do all your Christmas shopping online this year, you better start soon because there will be so many orders within the next weeks you might wait much more longer to get your stuff delivered. In fact, I read in the local newspaper this week that there was a delay at Canada Post for some parcels because they are just too overwhelmed.

I don’t wanna know how crazy it’s gonna be in a couple of weeks… SEO

So get all your Holiday shopping done before it’s too late… You’ve been warned!

Happy Shopping! Gift
