Who do you want to jot? Myself. Now you can blog without touching the keyboard!

I was browsing through the news today and a very interesting article got my attention on PR NewsWire. It goes like this:

“Jott Networks today announced the ability to create Google(TM) Calendar appointments while away from the PC — using one’s voice. Jott.com’s free voice-to-text service will link users directly to Google Calendar after a simple set up. Users may also elect to receive an SMS confirming the calendar entry.”

That’s pretty cool, I thought. Entering calendar notes with your voice, something that remained unknown to me. Since I have a snoopy nose, I decided to investigate.

Quickly copied “Jott.com” into my firefox search box, and surely, Google gave me the site. “Thank you Google” I thought – click.

Orange interface met me, with a simple layout. Without giving it a second, I pressed on the “Sign up now” button, which landed me on the page with four fields to fill out. “Thanks god” I thought, no lengthy forms, quick an easy. Next minute an email prompted me to confirm registration – sure thing.

Surprise surprise! Jott is asking for my phone number! I was sure as a brick wall the recoring was going to go through the microphone. Hmmm, my phone number you say? As if Jott read my thoughts, it was there looking at me, with innocent eyes of a baby girl.

“Jott is currently only available to US and Canadian subscribers.
Your phone number will never be sold or shared for marketing purposes without your permission. Standard text messaging rates will apply.”

Somewhere on the site I noticed Google’s Logo, Amazon and Yahoo – they must be for real. Heck with it, lets give them my number. Quickly filled out the fields, impatiently slammed “Continue”, and Jott asked me to call them. Sure thing – dial the number, a pretty voice greeted my ears saying I have to press some buttons. Hmmm, a second later I Notice:

Trouble?
* Make sure caller id is not blocked
* Calling from the USA and cant get it to work? Call (347) 523-8843
* Calling from Canada? Call (647) 724-5814”

Must be the case, lets call another number. Dialed (647) 724-5814 another pretty lady spoke to me congratulating and thanking me for sigining up with Jott. A quick demo followed suite and she explained how it all works.

The coolest thing I’ve seen on the net!

So how does it all work?

Here’s the layout.

You call Jott from your cell, tell them a keyword of what you want to do and they email or post the recording, both in print and in audio format. For example, if I was to make a note I would say: “myself” , then record what I want to say. In turn, Jott would save it in my online account and email me the copy.

Pretty neat. The chilliest thing of all – it does a darn good job of translating your voice into printed words!

You enjoying the sunshine on the palm beach, while the air smoothly wraps up around your body? Hell, you can still blog! That’s right you can blog when you’re not even close to your computer. Talk to Jott and it will do the rest!

You can pick from a multitude of services, and it seems Jott covered it all.

  • Blogger
  • Google Calendar
  • WordPress
  • Amazon
  • Yahoo Groups
  • Typepad
  • many more

Enter the address, your login info – lock n load, ready to roll. Speak to your phone and Jott will blog it.

So what’s the catch?

As far as I see it – there is no catch. Services are free and Jott is probably hoping to build strong community, which of course is the surest path to hmmmm, fortunes. I wish them the best of all!

I have to say, I’m still amazed this is possible, but heck, why don’t you go try it for yourself?

P.S.
