Too much information?

We all know that people shop more and more on the Internet before going to retailers in person. It’s a good way to save money and time, because shoppers know exactly where to go to get the best price for what they’re looking for.

This tendency of online ‘window-shopping’ make consumers experts at analyzing products. Retailers realized that some shoppers now know more than salesmen on the floor!

What does this mean for retailers? In the near future, they will have to make sure to hire expert salespeople who knows every characteristics of the products they are selling, as well as answering the technical questions consumers may have. If retailers don’t take this tendency seriously, they might end up with unsatisfied clients and lose their credibility.
