Google Project 10 to 100th - Ultimate Marketing Scheme

Google had just launched new project titled 10 to the 100th.

Watch the video

Never in history have so many people had so much information, so many tools at their disposal, so many ways of making good ideas come to life. Yet at the same time, so many people, of all walks of life, could use so much help, in both little ways and big.

If you have an idea that you believe would help somebody, we want to hear about it. We’re looking for ideas that help as many people as possible, in any way, and we’re committing the funding to launch them. You can submit your ideas and help vote on ideas from others. Final idea selections will be made by an advisory board.

Google is giving $10 million for ideas. Everyone is free to submit and vote when ideas are posted live. If you want to vote, sign up for voting notification here.

The Ultimate Marketing

Google has positioned itself as an angelic company. The “don’t be evil”, though accidental (at least they say it is), is now turning to “don’t be evil and help everyone”.

I support this project 100% (who doesn’t?), but believe there’s a larger strategy behind the curtains. Something that is well worth $10 mil that Google is dishing out.

Word of mouth marketing.

Word of mouth is the best marketing there is. When person recommends something to friends, it’s person’s trust thats on the line. It’s all subconscious and here’s how it works.

John went to a massage and came out felling 10 years younger. He’s happy as a baby rabbit. He’ll tell his friends, because he cares and wants them to experience good things (assuming he has good friends). If John’s friends visit this parlor and come out happy, they’ll mention it to John and give him “cudos” for finding the place. John will be double happy.

What if it sucked? What if a greasy guy with big hands “beat” their bones and called it massage? John’s friends would share the experience and would think twice before listening to him again.

Less trust.

It’s all subconscious, but that’s what our brains go through on the background. Before recommeding something, you’ll quickly analyze it and decide if it’s worth mentioning.

This is why word of mouth is so effective. People do not recommend “crap” to their friends, because there’s a degree of trust on the line. Only best gets word of mouth, and Google’s $10 million for ideas is one of those things. Who doesn’t want to share an idea and potentially get funded?

And what happens when “Marry”, tells “Katy the Yahoo user” about this? Katy will think it’s cool and will check it out. She will find Google way cool and give it a shot at searching things… she might even change her preference from Yahoo.

$10 million is quite cheap for potential branding and advertising Google can get with this project (considering cost of media for the big boys).

What Can We Learn?

Super internet brands are formed by users, not advertising. Google is a great example. Facebook, Myspace. Minimum advertising, yet top 10 brand, largerly grown from word of mouth.

In SEO world it’s SEO book. Though Aaron spent thousands on advertising, he pumped even more into content and tools to create positive word of mouth. Now he’s undisputed top 10 SEO.

Adapting this strategy is though and expensive, but if you can - go for it. You’ll struggle like a bum first, but wear a crown afterwards.

SEO Oakville Search Engine Optimization Marketing Company

Oakville SEO Services and Search Engine Marketing Consulting

Oakville search engine optimization is perfect for business people with open minds, looking for competitive edge and new growth strategy. It fits naturally with businesses that have physical presence in Oakville such as an office, store or warehouse.

Oakville SEO is a method of attracting visitors from search engines to a website, where website serves as a lead generator, but final sale takes place in person or over the phone.

Let’s take Kate, a mortgage broker in Oakville as an example. Kates business and living depends on new customers. She needs a flow of new home buyers who need a mortgage to get her commissions. For the most part Kate relies on good word of mouth from her happy clients and some mail marketing, but wants expand and take her Oakville brokerage business to the next level. To do that, she needs more customers and more profits. She starts researching opportunities and quickly learns that to get more customers she needs to market herself better.

With her budget, TV is out of the question due to high costs. Since she works in Oakville exclusively, she needs to market only in that region. Some options Kate has:

  • Purchase billboards (highway signs, subway, bus stops)
  • Send direct mail
  • Purchase Radio ads on local stations
  • Hire marketing agency for more ideas

Kate reseaches more and finds that none of the options above guarantee success. Let’s review each one of them step by step:

Billboards (example of a billboard).

Positives - reach large number of people

Negatives - Expensive. There’s no guarantee people who see the ad will be interested in her services. Poor return rate.

Direct Mail - is the delivery of advertising material to recipients of postal mail.

Positives - reach large number of people. Relatively cheap.

Negatives - people rarely read ads in the mail. Majority throw out the package without looking at first sign of advertisements. Poor return rate.

Radio Ads

Positives - reach large number of people, usually in their car. Quite affordable and can provide a healthy return with the right message, at the right station, during specific hours and days.

Negatives - people neglect “sales pitch” and usually tune out of radio ads.

Marketing agency

Positives - brainstorm new ideas. Create better messages than you would’ve done on your own. Find new marketing channels.

Negatives - good agencies are pricey and are located in big cities.

Kate also has a website and learns about Oakville search engine optimization.

Search Engine Optimization

As you seen above, Billboards, Direct Mail and Radio Ads interrupt people. Those types of advertisements intrude people and offer them something they didn’t ask for. This is known as “push advertising”.

For example, when you listen to radio, commercials interrupt whatever you’re listening to in order to sell. You were not asked whether you want to hear the ad. It was pushed at you.

There’s another way to advertise, known as pull advertising. With “pull advertising” you as a customer, permit the advertisement.

For example, search engine optimization. When you search using keywords on search engines, you see search results. Those results are websites that search engines determined are relevant to the search query.

For a moment, Imagine that you want to buy a house and need a mortgage in Oakville. You want to get lower interest rates than those offered by banks, so you go to Google and search using keywords “Oakville mortgage” or “mortgage broker in Oakville”.

At this point, you are very interested in the search results and websites that Google gives, because it is your intention to find a mortgage broker in Oakville. After viewing several websites and learning about each company, you will go ahead and call several brokers to learn more and eventually select one, giving that broker your business.

This is how “pull advertising” works. Instead of interrupting people like TV and Radio ads, as a business you only communicate with people who are genuinely interested.

As for Kate who wants to expand, Oakville SEO will drive qualified customers to her website from search engines. Customers who made up their mind to look for a mortgage broker and who want to do business.

This is what Oakville search engine optimization can do for you. Attract customers who are genuinely interested, without wasting money on people who could not care less. When was the last time you cared about a radio ad, TV ad, billboard or direct mail? Just as you, people don’t like to be sold. Oakville SEO doesn’t sell people, it attracts customers who are already sold.

Oshawa SEO Search Engine Optimization Services Company

SEO in Oshawa, Ontario

Business to Consumer Search Engine Marketing

Website is a strategic business investment. As a good investment it must bring accountable returns. In order for a website to bring returns, it must receive traffic and covert that traffic into customers. Oshawa SEO aims to drive traffic to a website from search engines and help your website be more profitable. What else do I get?

Business to Business B2B Search Engine Marketing

Business sale is a complex process, involving at least 2 stakeholders who weight competition and analyze the offer. B2B sale requires constant contact with prospective buyer and may take up to half a year. Search engine optimization will not ease the process or make it faster, but it will help you get more quality leads.

Research shows that 92% of all business people search products and solutions over the internet using search engines. If your website is not on search engines for keywords used by prospective buyers, you are missing leads. Oshawa search engine optimization addresses this. What else do I get?

How Can Search Engine Optimization Help My Business?

Search engines show results for keywords users enter into the search box. Very often users search for products, businesses and services, like: “carpenter in toronto”, “airline tickets”, “montreal lawyer”, etc. If your website is on the first page of search results for similar keywords (specific to your field) it will get very qualified visitors, who want to do business with you.

Oshawa SEO is a marketing technique, like radio ads, yellow pages or direct mail. It’s fairly new, around 10 years old and not well known. Oshawa search engine optimization can help you get more customers and serve as the “secret weapon”, leaving competitors wondering why you get more business. Look at it as growth and competitive strategy.

Video Search Engine Review Part 2

This is a second part of video search engines review. Last time we looked at Blinx. Today, let’s destroy EveryZing search.

EveryZing Review

On the about us page a double speak copy meets us: “Everyzing improves search experience and drives user consumption of multimedia content” There’s a summary of what the company does and other rubbish. Let’s look at the organs.

Technology

Ironically, the key to successful audio and video search is text. Text is the navigation “currency” of the web – so multimedia must be linked to text, and then published to the web. As text, audio and video content is more “discoverable” and more readily “consumed” which makes it far more valuable to advertisers.

hmmmm… got me skeptical right there. It then goes to explain: “At the heart of EveryZing’s solutions is our core speech-to-text technology – the fruit of $100 million of government-funded research by BBN Technologies”

OK. That’s more like it.

EveryZing technology is similar to Blinx, that also has speech to text conversion software.

Performance

On the homepage EveryZing meets us with pretty design and many video options, which include:

Sports      News & Politics      Lifestyle & Health      2008 Presidential Election      Gaming      Technology      Business      Food & Cooking      Baseball      Youtube Videos      Entertainment      Finance      Home Improvement      Comedy Shows      More…

I’m not an EveryZing user, but separate “baseball” section got me wondering. Why separate section for baseball? The guess is - EveryZing monitors search queries and than offers most popular sections. Have to visit it several times within a month to confirm this.

Let’s check the “News & Politics” section. There are 16 video thumbnails from various video sites. Video are loaded very fast and open in the same window. Blinx, the competitor, opens videos in the new window and is considerably slower, so cudos to EveryZing.

Testing search power. As with Blinx, I search for “The Secret” a very popular title, which has a huge following.

… just like blinx, EveryZing failed to find me what I wanted, which were some videos from “The Secret”. Bad….

Search for “SEO” only gives 4 results, none of which are about search engine optimization. From “internet user” perspective, I quickly ditch EveryZing and head out to other sites to search for what I want. You only got several seconds without a brand like You Tube and Facebook.

About EveryZing

Surprise. EveryZing does video SEO!

ezSEO is the first integrated multimedia SEO solution for connecting audio and video content to the major web search engines. ezSEO wraps every piece of audio and video content in a rich layer of metadata, including a full text output of spoken word track. This rich metadata is then pumped into EveryZing’s proprietary publishing system to create search engine friendly web pages as part of your site.”

CRO - Stephen Bake

Video Search Engine Review Part 1

With the invention of flash videos, online videos became HOT. There are over 200 flash video hosting websites and video search engines (full list below). You Tube was first and was the solution to “video search”. Since it’s success, over 200 hundred sites tried to duplicate YouTube and lure in users with more hip features. Though You Tube has it all, it doesn’t hurt to search other sites.

Blinx and EveryZing are 2 video search engines that attempt to search video sites. Today we look at Blinx.

Blinx - Video Search Engine

Blinx goes: “Over 26 million hours of video. Search it all.”

Technology:

Blinx has power under the hood. It uses speech recognition and speech to text technology to index videos. It also has image recognition software to search within videos and classic on page analysis, links analysis, titles, etc.

“blinkx’s unique, patented and award-winning video and audio analysis technology, which literally watches and listens to rich media content online, has enabled it to build a massively detailed, objective and scalable index.”

Blinx Features:

  • 350 media partnerships
  • 26 million hours of searchable video
  • technology that was conceived at Cambridge University, enhanced by $150M in R&D over 12 years, and is now protected by 111 patents
  • search for video content, create personal video play lists, or build a customized Video Wall for their blog or MySpace page

Performance:

That’s all freakin impressive. Got the blood rushing. What can you do for me? The short attention span, “couldn’t care less”, “give me now the best”, “in the hurry” internet user?

Home page got a nice thumbnail of videos. You can view News, Entertainment, Business, Sport, Music, Viral, Science and Tech, Education, Travel, Home, Film, Environment, Automotive, Gaming. Very nice. Got me interested.

But how that techno bragging delivers if I want to search. For example “The Secret”. This title is popular, so I expect snippets of the movie, reviews and related videos:

hmmm… not exactly what I expected. There’s some channel 4 videos, CBC, ITN, You Tube, Veoh… some news.. but where’s my movie snippets? Get to page 2, no “Secret” in sight… hmm….

Let’s search “SEO”, assuming I want to learn some.

This time Blinx performs and gives me, quality. I’m satisfied.

Couple more searches and Blinx did pretty good.

More emphasis on fresh content

Blinx has over 300 media partnerships so it puts more emphasis on new videos as opposed to “authoritative” videos. Searching, you’ll see outlets otherwise not found on Google Video, Live Video and other search engines.

A BIG plus for news oriented searches. A turn off for those looking for more relevance in video search. You’ll enjoy blinx if you like watching news online. As for me, Google Video is still video search of preference. (search engine land says VideoSurf kicks butt, so can’t wait to get my test account with them).

Next review: Video search engine “EveryZing”.

About Blinx:

Founded in 2004 by Suranga Chandratillake, the company completed a tremendously successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) in May, 2007 and currently has a market capitalization of US$350M*, with headquarters in San Francisco, CA and the UK.

Windsor SEO Search Engine Optimization Company

Windsor SEO Services and Consulting

There are over 216,473 residents in Windsor Canada. How many use search engines to find products and services? Here’s some interesting statistics.

According to internetworldstats.com, 65.9 % of all Canadian residents have internet connection. Applied to Windsor population (216,473), 65,9% is 142,655 internet users in Windsor Canada. Here’s some more interesting statistics:

According to PEW Research 91% of all internet users use search engines, making it second most popular activity on the web. 91% of Windsor internet users (142,655) is 129,816 search engine users in Windsor, Ontario.

If you optimize your website for Windsor on search engines, you will reach approximately 129,816 potential customers in Windsor.

Yellow Pages Are Declining. Why Windsor SEO will bring you more returns than your yellow page Advertising

Yellow pages and search engines are very similar. When customers want to find a company on yellow pages, they are essentially ready for business. It’s a matter of calling few numbers and finding the right company. Search engine are similar. When users search with keywords, they have a specific task in mind, for example, to find information about products or to find a company. Search engine users take their own initiative to look for you, all you need is to be found.

Search engines are replacing Yellow Pages, because they are easier and faster to use.

  • People do what’s easy. Is it easier to search Google and get local business results in 0.34 seconds, or browse fat yellow page book?
  • Yellow pages usage is declining. According to Search Engine Land there’s less YP users every year.
  • Search engines, particularly Google, provide interactive search results for local businesses, including address, phone number and location on the map, with option to get directions… No wonder users abandon yellow pages.

Having first page listing on search engines for local Windsor queries related to your business can bring over 50 interested daily visitors who are genuinely considering your company. At 10% conversion rate (10% of visitors become customers), that’s 5 new customers per day. How much is that in dollars? And how much is it when Windsor SEO brings you 100 visitors per day?

Kitchener SEO Search Engine Optimization Marketing Company

SEO Services in Kitchener, Ontario Canada

SEO Expert is a Canadian search engine optimization company that provides SEO services to Kitchener businesses, helping business owners drive more visitors to their website, sell more merchandize, create more leads and sales, entice sign ups and downloads.

  • Increase traffic from Kitchener and Toronto to your website 80% - 15,000%
  • Gain first page positions on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com and other search engines
  • Optimize press releases, code, flash, PDF, text and other website elements for high search engine visibility

Kitchener Search Marketing Services

To get where you want to be financially, your marketing needs to drive more qualified customers. Even if you have best products and best services, customers will not come knocking to your door, unless they know about you.

Kitchener Search engine optimization is a new way to attract customers. Unlike old methods of advertising, where you package content and blast it at crowds who are not always receptive to what you have to say, SEO only targets visitors who are interested.

Let’s take radio commercials and direct mail as example. Do you listen to radio ads? Do you know people who enjoy listening to radio advertisements and who pay attention? You can hardly count on fingers. Radio ads are annoying. So are TV ads. What about direct mail. Majority of people simply throw out packages that sell them. No person wants to read another commercial. We have too many commercials selling us, and majority are dumb, on the level of 3 year olds (turn on evening news).

Kitchener SEO takes a radically new approach. Instead of pitching crowds who do not want to hear another ad, Kitchener search engine optimization only targets customers who want your business. For example:

When someone searches on Google with keywords “Kitchener mortgage broker” - they have a clear goal in mind. Find and hire mortgage broker in Kitchener. When someone searches with keywords “toronto lawyer” - they have a clear goal. Find and hire lawyer in Toronto. Do you see the pattern?

Search engine users want your business. It’s a matter of being on search results, when they search. This is what Kitchener SEO accomplishes. It positions your website on search results to attract customers who want to do business with you, without wasting resources on people who are disinterested.

Call us or write an email.

Google and O3b

Google is teaming up with HSBC and John Malone to initiate O3b Networks.  This substantial project will launch a minimum of 16 low-earth satellites near the equator to provide developing countries with low-cost internet access.  With current funding at $65 million, the project is slotted to start today.

O3b or “the other three billion” refers to the remaining population without access to the internet.  By positioning the three satellites close to the equator, the companies aim to afford internet access to countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East by 2010.  They want to make it possible for countries unlikely to develop fiber infrastructures to benefit from the learning and medicinal opportunities that the internet provides.

While $65 million is currently raised, the job is projected to cost upwards of $750 million USD.  Google, HSBC, and John Malone have each contributed an opening $20 million and Allen & Company has supplied an additional $5 million.  The companies’ combined efforts are expected to reduce the cost of internet by 95%.  All partners are meeting today with French manufacturing company Thales Alenia to confirm initial production of the satellites.

Planning for internet access in developing countries has previously failed because of high costs. Creating fiber infrastructures proved to be outrageously expensive, consuming over 40% of the mobile operator’s expenses.  Additionally, the cost of buying internet back haul from geosatellites was substantial and unsustainable. The companies, headed by Greg Wyler, believe that by building low-earth satellites internet will become more affordable.  They aim to provide back haul capacities at $500 USD per month, which they deem feasible because of the lower latency period for signals traveling to low level satellites as opposed to geosatellites.

O3b will rely on ISPs and internet providers to distribute high-speed internet to specific localities.  Additional satellites may be built if needed.

Halifax SEO Search Engine Optimization Marketing

Halifax, Nova Scotia SEO Search Engine Optimization Service

As you read this article, you will learn why Halifax SEO is one of the most cost effective, accountable and profitable ways to market your business.

Let’s look at your business from investment and revenue perspective, apart from SEO. Answer the following questions:

  • What is the percentage of your repeat customers?
  • How many new customers do you get per month?

and in direct relation:

  • How much money do you make from your repeat customers: per month | quarterly | annually?
  • How much money do you make with new customers: per month | quarterly | annually?

Even if you’re not ready for Halifax search engine optimization, those are useful questions to answer to learn your revenue flow outlook. To answer those questions, look at the data of who buys from you or uses your services. The goal is to come up with a good estimate, for example:

  • Repeat customers constitute 30% of my business and bring $X amount of money
  • New customers constitute 70% of my business and bring $X amount of money

You will most likely learn that new customers are the majority, meaning, if you get more new customers per month, you will raise revenues. How can I get more customers?

Using Halifax SEO as a Customer Acquisition Strategy

What is your business model? Can you turn referrals into money? Do your customers call you to find out about services or do they buy direct? Let’s look at an example.

A Halifax real estate agent wants to get more customers, so he buys real estate ad in Yellow Pages. He know this fact: “people who use yellow pages are very qualified, because they need the service he offers”.

He also considers direct mail, but direct mail is not as effective, because most people do not open a package full ads and vast majority are not interested in realtor services(how do you know who’s interested when you send out direct mail? No one knows, its largerly guesswork).

He decides to go with yellow pages, because people who look at yellow page ads are the people who want the services, as opposed to blind guessing (direct mail, radio, billboards). Customers who get the fat yellow pages book, take the trouble to find “real estate” section and call some numbers on the list. They want what the offer.

Search engines act in similar fashion. When someone searches for “Halifax real estate agent” on google, they want the services. It is their intention to find websites, call agents and decide on one. They look for you, not the other way around and come prepared to spend money.

Unfortunately, Yellow Pages are being replaced by the search engines. It’s far easier to search on Yahoo or Google and get results in milliseconds, then to browse fat Yellow Pages. (just look at example on Google for a search “Halifax real estate agent“. It’s very useful)

This is the reason why Halifax SEO can bring you more qualified customers and increase your profits.

Google Birthday - Company Turns 10 on September 7th 2008

Google is 10 as of September 7th, 2008.

An “out-of-the-garage” start up is now valued at $142 billions, standing next to HP and Bank of America. A true Silicon Valley story of 2 university students, who never thought of business, but happen to have interest in internet technology.

Back when Google was born, Sergey and Larry thought of selling technology and leaving it at that. Luckily for them, no one wanted it.

Soon Google found a way to monetize their technology with pay per click advertising, originally devised by Overture, now Yahoo Search Marketing. With help of Eric Schmidt and after 3 reincarnations of Google Adwords, they became billionaires and the fastest growing company in the world.

Don’t be Evil

Story goes according to Wikipedia:

On July 19, 2001, about a dozen early employees met to mull over the founders’ directive [to elucidate Google’s core values] … The meeting soon became cluttered with the kind of easy and safe corporate clichés that everyone can support, but that carry little impact: Treat Everyone with Respect, for example, or Be on Time for Meetings.

The engineers in the room were rolling their eyes. [Amit] Patel recalls: “Some of us were very anticorporate, and we didn’t like the idea of all these specific rules. And engineers in general like efficiency — there had to be a way to say all these things in one statement, as opposed to being so specific.”

That’s when Paul Buchheit, another engineer in the group, blurted out what would become the most important three words in Google’s corporate history. “Paul said, ‘All of these things can be covered by just saying, Don’t Be Evil,’” Patel recalls. “And it just kind of stuck.”

… In the months after the meeting, Patel scribbled “Don’t Be Evil” in the corner of every whiteboard in the company… The message spread, and it was embraced, especially by Page and Brin… “I think it’s much better than Be Good or something,” Page jokes. “When you are making decisions, it causes you to think. I think that’s good.”

Can a corporation not be evil? There’s a lot we don’t know, but it’s original. Better than, “Syndicating Search Mindshare” or similar mindless new-speak.

Google Chrome Browser

On Monday Google released new browser called Google Chrome. You can download it here.

Official Google Post

I was hoping to do a review, but it keeps crashing, even after several re-installations. Hope Google fixes this issue soon.

Google accidentally (or was it a PR stunt?) released a comic book explaining Chrome, which led to the release of the beta Chrome to the public in over 100 languages. You can see download link on Google’s homepage.

Up Against Microsoft

Chrome is going full against Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer Google Chrome
  • Comes pre installed on Windows Machines
  • Has ~70% browser market share
  • Has a strong grip on many users, especially non-savvy, occasional internet users.
  • Offered on Google search homepages, which 60% of all internet users see.
  • Backed up by leading worldwide brand
  • New player in browser world.
  • Address bar(omni box) serves as a search window for a default search window
  • Integration of Live Maps
  • Integration of Facebook, eBay and other services
  • Helps Microsoft brand on the internet.
  • Address bar(omni box) serves as a Google search box.
  • New approach to browser technology, with each tab, “independent” from the browser.
  • Will help Google establish more web dominance and make more revenue

Browser is the most important piece of internet software and being an internet leader, Google has got to dip it’s hands there. On top of added revenues from the Omnibox and the search box, Google can lure more long term customers from Microsoft. Unlike with Docs, Spreadsheet and other shots at Microsoft, this one has big potential against IE.

Microsoft is integrating more of it’s products into the browser(maps) and according to several articles from Techmeme this was the reason for early release of Chrome.

One author at Techcrunch made claims that Chrome is a Windows killer, paving the way to browser only OS, but I don’t see how this is possible. How can you operate only out of a browser? Seems very limited, but I guess it’s either I’m not savvy enough, don’t have an open mind, or author at Techmeme really hates microsoft and likes to rant about anything that can put it down.

Chrome is a huge part of Google internet strategy. If it can lure users, it will get access to more behavioral data, past the search results, which can be integrated into the search engine (something Microsoft is doing with Browse Rank). On top of behavioral data Google can introduce more apps and software through the browser, which goes against or outpaces it’s biggest rival - Microsoft.

Chrome Privacy Issues

As first noted by CNET News on Tuesday, Chrome’s End User License agreement appeared to give Google a perpetual right to use anything one entered into the browser. Section 11 stated that although users retain copyright to their works, “by submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.” - CNET

Ouch… that sounds really bad. Very big brotherish. Google told CNET it will keep 2% of user data from it’s browser.

Google Pagerank Indicator?

Barry of Search Engine Roundtable is worried about Google PageRank bar which is missing in chrome:

why is it missing? Is it just a feature that may be coming in the future or was this intentionally left out?

Matt Cutts said in December 2007: “Personally, I wouldn’t mind removing the PageRank in the Google Toolbar or swapping it with some other indicator, but that would be a large undertaking. Maybe that can be a long-term goal for me. :)”

It’s logical Matt had influence on this. Could he leave it out on purpose?

Keywords

Internet is a medium based on words and keywords form a backbone of search engine optimization. Without proper keyword research, SEO would be ineffective and would cease to exist.

Keywords.

The term keyword refers to the words used to find webpages via search engines. Whenever you enter a combination or a single word into the search field, you are entering keywords, according to whichm search engines give results. Example would be to search for “search engine optimization”.

Keywords withhold visitor intent. Whenever anyone searches for “montreal limo” or “toronto hotel“, searchers have a very clear image on their mind, in our case to a find a local Montreal limousine service or to source a keyword research tool. This is the primary reason for SEO’s success and growth as a marketing and advertising technique. It allows practitioners to gain complete insight into intentions of the visitors, and optimize the web presence towards it.

Keywords and keyword research formulate the first piece of the SEO puzzle.

Keyword databanks.

Whenever you perform a search anywhere across the search engines, you leave a footprint which is archived in specially allocated keyword databanks, or indexes. Each and every search engine, records every query it gets. Some of the companies keep this information strictly private. Number of other companies has build a business model around keyword research and allows public to access their database for a fee, via specially designed keyword research software.

There are also a number of free for all keyword research tools which can be very precise and eliminate the need for paid services.
