Search Wiki Review

part 1 | part 3

I don’t see any changes, where are the buttons? – to see Search Wiki buttons you must be logged in with a Google account.

What can I do with search results?

  • You can move ANY search result to the absolute top.
  • You can delete any search result you do not like.
  • You can comment on any search result.
  • You can add any page to search results.

Moving Search Results

To move search results click on the little “UP” arrow next to the result link. This moves the result to the top of the page, making it number 1.

What If I want to move results to number 3 spot? Or to number 5? You can only move results to the absolute top. If you want to move something to number 3, than you have to move 2 results prior to the one you want on number 3 spot.

Can I move results down? - you can move results down once you promote them to the top. You can’t move results down which you did not move.

What happens after I move results up? – as you move results up, Google shows number of people that moved that same result to the top. You can also see number of people who deleted the result and some of the comments (if any).

What if I want to move results from the second or third page? – you can move any results, from any page to the #1 spot.

Deleting Search Results

You can delete any search result you don’t like by pressing the X button next to the up arrow. Once clicked, you’ll see a little animation of that search result being deleted.

What I want if I delete something by accident or want a result back to SERPs? – you can see deleted search results at the bottom of the page and restore then at any time.

Commenting

You can comment on any search results by pressing a little cloud icon next to the “Cached” and “Similar Pages” links. Once clicked you’ll see a text area pop up where you can make a public comment about a website. Once commented, you’ll see your own comment under the listing and a “edit” link to modify it.

To see comments of other people, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on “See all notes for this SearchWiki”. There you’ll see the same search results, but with a button “# comments”.

Click on the “#comments” and you’ll see what other people are saying about a website. Also notice little thumbs up and thumbs down next to each comment. This is how you can rate reviews. It’s not clear if the reviews with most thumbs up show up, but it’s a possibility.

Adding a Link to Search Results

You can also add a link to search results for a particular keyword, and move that link up in search results. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Add a Result”. Put in a URL you want to see and click on “Preview Button”. Google will demonstrate how the search result will look if you add it and give you another “ADD” button . Click on the “ADD” and custom search result will go all the way to the number one spot.
