Website Links
This article is written to help other webmaster or any other internet user who would like to understand more about website links. Within this article, I would like to start a chapter which is focusing on how website link is made because it becomes more and more important to understand early process of your web link structure that will give website owner more benefit from it especially by receiving high visibility on the search engine placements. Many people believe that power of link will bring your website to the higher level, unfortunately there are so many black techniques have been performed and it changed the way how website link should be built and structured especially for typical of website directory.
I’m not going to go more technical about this because I would like to keep it simple so everybody could understand and comprehend it. Besides that I would like our blog member to participate and I’m looking forward to see your comment about this topic.
Upon page load, web link can be presented to user agent in two forms as static or dynamic link. Static link will not change upon page load by user agent i.e. if you have “SEO” text with hyperlink to http://www.searchengineoptimizationcompany.ca, it will be presented as it is at all time upon page load. Dynamic link will change upon page load and it generates unique link prior to sending the link to the visitor; or as a result of client-side scripting that is run immediately upon page load. Many website directories will use dynamic link to generate more related web link about its particular page but most of the time search engine robot will not be able to flow through its link that is generated by certain type of website script. Static link will always be related to your page topic because it is such permanent link on your page and very easy to be followed by search engine robot. In the other hand, dynamic link may give you vary results because it has to look for its content parameter upon page load and sending the link to the visitor based on its script viewing process.
Since we would like to receive benefit from top search engine placement, always use text link instead of images to display important links. Text link is friendlier to the search engine robot than images link. It is easier to determine how important a web link on your page with text link than image link. You could set up your image link as valuable as your text link by adding extra element in your website coding to gain its efficiency as mark up link but as we all say “content is king” so text link will always much better than image link because its strong imprint towards the search engine robot.
Do not let broken link stays on your page because it will interrupt crawling process and gain such frustration for your web visitor where they see often “Page Cannot Be Found” error message. You want your website work properly at all time as well as its link. Why should you keep something that is broken? Oh, we’re just updating our data …. Please be clear with your web visitor and committed to have it done as soon as possible. If you really have no time to fix it or creating the page link destination, then remove it until you are ready to do so. It’s wasting your web space to deliver traffic towards Dead End Street.
When you are delivering a web visitor to another location you are required to clarify where you are going to take them. Do not use “Click here” as direction especially when you use text link. Choose valuable information to show where your link will direct every web visitor including the search engine robot. You tell your web visitor: “GO THAT WAY!!”. It is not clear where you are redirecting them. Always be clear where your link is destined.
Please keep the amount of your link on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100). If you have more than 100 links on a page, do not think twice to separate it. It’s more important to give valuable link to your web visitor than looking like a link farm.
